From the mountain range where the Sierra Nevada is located, it's only 33km to Granada. And only about 90km to the resorts of the Costa del Sol. Part of the range is the Sierra Nevada National Park. The park has the status of a biosphere reserve and is highly regarded by fans of eco-tourism.
Sierra Nevada was founded as a resort around the small town of Pradogliano, nestled at 2100 meters above sea level. The history of Sierra Nevada as a world-famous ski resort dates back to 1996 when it hosted the World Winter Sports Championships.
