Zermatt is one of the few places where skiing is possible all year round, even in summer. The high peaks maintain a snow cover even during the summer months. The total skiing area in Zermatt covers 394 hectares and is divided into three districts: Rothorn (3103m), Gornergrat/Gornergrat (3089m) to Klein Matterhorn/Klein Matterhorn (3820m), and Schwarzsee (2583m). The longest ski slope in Zermatt is the Zermatt Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, stretching an impressive 22 kilometers.
Snowboarders will find Europe's largest snow park, Gravity, located on the Theodul Glacier, which remains open even during the summer months. Access to the park is available from the Trockener Steg elevator station to the Furggsattel.
For those looking to enjoy skiing in the summer, Zermatt offers 21 kilometers of high-altitude summer pistes. The resort is renowned for the Klein Matterhorn elevator, which reaches the highest station at an impressive 3,885 meters above sea level.
