Chang's rainy seasons begin in summer, peaking in August. It is hot and humid, and the Gulf of Thailand is rife with storms. The time when Chang's rainy seasons begin is considered unprofitable for tourism. Keep in mind that the weather here is quite unpredictable. For example, at the height of the rainy season it may only rain at night, but in November, which is officially the start of the high season, it can rain every day.
There's a tropical climate here, which means you'll get tropical showers, with powerful winds and high waves. However, on its own, it's also a lot to take in. Spring here is hot, quite sunny. Locals call the season from November to March cool, but that only means that people in Europe will find it quite warm.
But the hot season is really sultry and humid. The average temperature in August is +32°C in the shade, but it can be much higher. But in November it stays around +30°C and rarely rises above that. It is hot, but bearable. So you could say that the season here lasts all year round.
The vegetation and animal life of Chang
Chang's vegetation is simply gorgeous. Coconut palms, mangroves, evergreen shrubs, orchids. The center of the island is covered with dense jungle, where you can encounter a variety of birds and, alas, insects with reptiles. Therefore, it is better to stick to hiking trails, fenced and provided with convenient infrastructure.
Chang's animal life is rich and varied. Of course, elephants are not common inhabitants of the island, they are brought here, primarily for tourists. And you can meet turtles, snakes and crocodiles near the beaches and hotels, except for representatives of local original shows with animals.
There are about thirty species of mammals living in the jungle. These include macaques, deer, wild boars, mongooses and many others. There are more than seven dozen species of birds.
From snakes, you may come across a python and a king cobra. There are forty-two species of reptiles in total, among which the kochang frog is found only on this island.
But the main attraction of Koh Chang remains the marine world, where there are an incredible number of colorful exotic fish, clams and turtles. There are even small sharks and rays swimming among the coral reefs.
