It's easy to see where Ko Chang Island is. Open up any network map and you'll see that near Trat province, almost off the coast, lies a not insignificant island. It is indeed one of the largest islands in Thailand. The word "chang" translates to "elephant" in Thai.
The territory of Chang is set aside as a separate amphae (a territorial unit smaller than a province). In addition, Ko Chang includes the small islets that are nearby. The population of Chang is quite small, here all year round live no more than five thousand residents. All of them are mainly engaged in the tourist business.
