Phi Phi Phi Don Island is part of the National Marine Sanctuary, so the main task for the people of Thailand is to preserve the pristine beauty of nature as much as possible. Here you won't see wide paved roads, cars, motorcycles, and songteos.
The only way to get to any beach or viewpoint is through the jungle, along narrow, winding paths. The exception is the road from Tonsai Village to Long Beach, which runs along the coastline and is wide enough.
Moving around Phi Phi Phi Island on foot
Walking along the jungle paths is also an amateur's delight. Firstly, the terrain is very mountainous, and you'll have to walk up and down. Secondly, you may meet a snake among the bushes, and this is really dangerous.
Important! For safety reasons, take a stick with you. If the snake attacks you - put the stick forward, then the snake will wrap itself around it, and you can throw it farther away.
Modes of Transportation in Phi Phi Phi
As we've said, there are no cars or songteos on Phi Phi Phi. There are a couple of motorcycle rental shops in Tonsai, but renting one is pointless as there is nowhere to ride it. And the rental price of 200 THB per hour is many times more than in any other Thai resort.
Bicycle
It's also possible to rent a bicycle in Tonsai. But it's not always advisable because the village is very small and you can get around on foot, and apart from Tonsai, there are no paved paths on the island.
The price for bike rental is 100 THB for a half day, 200 THB for a full day.
Kayak
This is the most popular transportation on Phi Phi Phi. A kayak can be used to explore the neighboring beaches. The boat can accommodate a maximum of three people, and you'll also be given paddles and life jackets.
Important! Personal belongings (money, documents, gadgets) should be wrapped in cellophane or a waterproof bag.
Water Taxi
This service is only available on the three most popular beaches - Tonsai, Long Beach, and Lo Dalam. The water cab is a regular motorized boat that will take you to any beach on the island. It usually takes four people, but the driver can accommodate up to eight people if arranged.
The price of the service is from 100 THB to 1000 THB, depending on the distance of the destination.
Phi Phi Phi Island doesn't have good roads between beaches, but the distance between them is not that long. And the possibility of renting water transportation will greatly improve your mobility.
