The majority of vacationers come to Phi Phi Phi for a quiet, peaceful vacation. However, for those who love nightlife, there are also nightlife and restaurants to enjoy. In general, the nightlife on the island is concentrated on the beaches of Lo Dalum and Tonsai, closer to the east. While Lo Dalum is all about parties on the sand and fireworks shows, Tonsai is more sedate, with good restaurants and decent menus.
Lo Dalum Beach Parties
About a dozen bars open after sunset on the eastern side of Lo Dalum, with music from powerful sound systems heard all along the coast. Each venue plays a different style of music, whether it's trance, chill-out, reggae, or club classics. You can dance right in the open air. Each bar sells alcoholic drinks in small buckets, just like in other Thai resorts.
Popular Beach Bars
Slinky
Famous for its epic fire shows. The fire show involves 4-5 actors at a time, whereas the others have a maximum of three. The show takes place on a stage set up close to the sea, with tables set up around it for visitors.
The bar is staffed by waiters who offer alcohol and snacks to the audience. After 22:00 the beach party begins, with dancing right on the sand, and ends most often by sunrise.
The establishment's identifying sign is a phallus statue sticking out of the sand just outside the entrance.
Woody
This bar also hosts fire shows, but the venue has cushioned poufs with pillows for the audience's comfort. After the fire show, there are contests and disco for the guests. The music will appeal to everyone, with popular club hits and classic Beatles and Bonnie M's being played.
The rest of the bars on Lo Dalum aren't as loud, and each venue has its own twist and style.
Nightlife on Tonsai Beach
Tonsai Beach is the place to be if you want to spend the evening in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. There are restaurants both in the center of the village (e.g. Dojo) and on the beach. You will be offered an extensive menu and a good selection of drinks. There are no loud parties, and fireworks shows are only held at Carlito's Bar.
Phi Phi Phi has something for everyone, whether you're a party-goer or a more laid-back vacationer. And if you choose a secluded beach, the sounds of music won't stop you from enjoying the island's natural beauty in peace and quiet.
