What can be brought to Ukraine by plane or train? Items worth less than 200 EUR or a single indivisible item worth not more than 300 EUR are exempt from import taxation.
It is allowed to import tobacco products up to 200 cigarettes or 200 grams of tobacco. Foodstuffs imported for personal consumption are imported duty free at the rate of not more than 50 EUR per person with the obligatory presence of the manufacturer's package of not more than 1 package or the total weight of not more than 2 kilograms.
How much alcohol can be imported into Ukraine? Duty-free import of vodka products up to 1 liter, and wine up to 2 liters. You can import up to 5 liters of beer. How much alcohol you can take out of Ukraine depends primarily on the customs of the country you are entering.
Among the things that are prohibited to import into Ukraine are poisonous, radioactive, explosive and poisonous substances, printed and video materials containing propaganda of war, racism and violence. Import of food products without a certificate of conformity is prohibited. Import of firearms, cold weapons, explosives and gas canisters requires authorization from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Import of animals requires a veterinary certificate. When importing more than 5 packages of medicines or more than necessary for one person for one course of treatment (appropriate documents are required), as well as narcotic and psychotropic substances, you need a permit from the Ministry of Health. Import customs duty, VAT and excise duty are charged.
What is prohibited to export from Ukraine? First of all, these are precious metals and stones, cultural values, poisonous, radioactive and explosive substances, canceled securities.
It is allowed to export items up to EUR 100,000? The export of works of art, cultural and historical values requires the permission of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
Free import of up to 10,000 USD is allowed, while import of 10,000 USD to 50,000 USD (including payment documents in foreign currency and traveler's checks) requires documents on the sources of currency origin (for residents) and an application for import of currency with indication of the purpose of import. Ukrainian currency can be imported only on condition that there is a customs declaration for the export of this currency from Ukraine.
Ukraine has a tax free system. This means that part of the money spent on purchases in stores can be returned, get a cash refund of part of the value added tax (VAT) included in the cost of goods bought abroad. In EU countries, the amount of tax can be as high as 27% of the cost of goods. You can get a refund on part of your shopping costs:
- foreign citizens who do not have a residence permit in the country where the goods were bought
- citizens who are not authorized to work in the country where the purchase was made;
- citizens who are not authorized to work in the country where the purchase was made.
- citizens who have been in the country where the purchase was made for no more than 3 months;
- citizens who do not have refugee status in the country where the purchase was made;
- travelers who are returning home from abroad.
To receive a refund, you must have made the purchase at a Global Blue member store. This is usually indicated by a Tax Free Shopping sign on the front door and a Tax Free receipt, which must be stapled to the cash register receipts by the store's Global Blue customer service officer.
Then present all Tax Free receipts to Customs. The customs officer must stamp it to confirm that you have crossed the border. Please note that you will be asked to show your purchase and your tourist visa. Tax refund centers will refund the amount spent.
