Even before the early 2000s, safety in Dallas was not the best - the city led the nation in crime rates among America's major cities. Property crimes were high, as were crimes against human life and health.
Since 2003, these numbers have gradually decreased. But the southern parts of Dallas, where 10-year-old buildings are located, are still considered dangerous neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are mostly inhabited by blacks or Mexicans.
The central parts of the city are considered safe, but still tourists are not recommended to walk alone after dark, be vigilant, watch their belongings and do not show large sums of money.
