Public Transportation
When it comes to exploring the city and its surroundings, Buenos Aires offers a variety of public transportation options:
- Buses (both intra- and intercity)
- Trams (with two streetcar lines within the city)
- Metro (with six lines to choose from)
- Railroad (providing access to dormitories, suburbs, and other cities in Argentina)
If you're looking for alternative transportation options, you can also arrange a sea cruise from the port of Buenos Aires. Additionally, cab services are available and are typically quite affordable.
Buenos Aires Public Transportation
Buses are a convenient and cost-effective mode of public transportation in Buenos Aires, with tickets averaging around 1.25 ARS (depending on distance). There are no fixed fares; instead, you pay separately for each trip, so it's a good idea to have change on hand to purchase a ticket from the machine.
Metro is another affordable mode of transportation in Buenos Aires, the price of a trip - similar to the bus. If we compare buses and subways, it should be noted that while the former run around the clock here, the subway schedule is limited - from 6am to 10pm.
