Pula is a popular tourist destination because all possible advantages have converged in one city. From comfortable weather and luxurious nature to two thousand years of history and affordable prices. Back in the days of ancient Rome, Pula was already the administrative center of the Istrian province.
Now it is the largest city of Istria with developed infrastructure and its own airport. Fishing, winemaking, shipbuilding and construction industry are also actively developing here. In honor of Pula is even named an asteroid, because in the XIX century in the city worked a famous observatory, which was responsible for the discovery of almost 30 asteroids.
In fact, Pula was founded even earlier. It was one of the first ancient Greek colonies in the north of the Adriatic. Already later the Romans came here and appreciated the strategic location of the port city. Many fragments of buildings and structures from those times are still preserved.
Like the whole of Istria, at different times Pula belonged to the Venetians, Lombards, Ostgoths, Franks, was part of Austria, fell under occupation, passed to Italy, and later became part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In 1991, Pula became part of independent Croatia.
