It's a good idea to spend a day hiking around Ayia Napa towards Cape Greco. Choose comfortable shoes and clothes, make sure you bring a hat and sunscreen, plenty of water, and some food.
It's best to start your journey early in the morning from Kryou Nerou Avenue. The path along the coast will take you to a place in Ayia Napa where snails and clams are collected. Further on, the hiking route can take you along nature trails framed by dwarf pines and junipers.
About 8 km from the city center is the National Forest Park, which is home to orchids, crocuses, florals, irises, and more than 400 other plant species. Many of these are found only in Cyprus.
For the physically tough, the route from Ayia Napa to Cape Greco offers a 100-meter climb to the central valley. In the 1990s, archaeologists discovered the remains of one of the earliest Neolithic settlements on the island.
Cape Greco has plenty of observation decks from which to take stunning photos, as well as benches and picnic areas. You'll be impressed by the majesty of the coastal cliffs and the clarity and richness of the coastal waters.
If you're a thrill-seeker, you'll be tempted to jump into the sea from the steep cliff near Agioi Anargyroi Church. There are also gentle slopes to the water.
Finish your Ayia Napa hike at the picturesque Lovers' Bridge, which is featured in almost every guidebook in Cyprus.
