Spring.
In March, the weather on the island is inconsistent, so it's best to bring an umbrella and a windbreaker. The thermometer reads at least +20-22°C during the day. You can sunbathe on the beach, but it's too early to get in the water, as the sea is warming up to +18°C at most.
In April, the winds stop raging and the last rains fall. The weather forecast for Ayia Napa shows them usually once a week. The capers, opuntias, bauginias and callistemons are in full bloom. This is the best time to go for walks in the scenic areas of Cyprus.
The beach season officially opens in May. Daytime temperatures don't drop below +25-27°C and nighttime temperatures are +15-17°C. In spring, the island sometimes experiences khamsin (a hot wind carrying sand from the Sahara), followed by yellow rain.
Summer.
When going to the resort in June and August, you can easily do without a weather forecast. The weather in Ayia Napa ranges from "hot" to "very hot". Already in the first summer month the air warms up to +28°C, in July - to +34°C, in August - to +40°C. The water in the sea is +24-27°C.
The probability of rain is reduced to zero. It is recommended to sunbathe on the beach early in the morning or closer to the evening. Use hats, headscarves, protective creams necessarily! Small children should not be taken to Cyprus in July and August.
Autumn.
In September, the thermometer in Ayia Napa still does not fall below +30°C during the day and +20°C at night. The sea is still warm (+26°C). It can rain at the end of September, so it's worth checking the 14-day weather forecast for Ayia Napa before you go.
The second month of autumn brings comfortable daytime temperatures of +27°C, but by evening it's best to stock up on a sweater or windbreaker.
In November, the sky is often "weeping". It's a good idea to check the weather in Ayia Napa for 5-7 days. At the beginning of the month you can still swim in the sea, but it is often stormy. The air temperature will not exceed +22-24°C.
Winter.
In December, the water is still relatively warm - +19-20°C - but sunbathing and swimming are no longer possible. Winds and rain are common on the coast, and a warm jacket is essential. Similar situation with the weather in Ayia Napa in January. Except that the temperature is a couple of degrees cooler.
Before you arrive, it's best to check the weather in Ayia Napa every 3 days. February is the start of spring in Cyprus. This is especially noticeable towards the end of the month. Temperatures rise to +17-19°C during the day.
When is it cheaper to travel to Ayia Napa?
If you've decided, "I'm going to Ayia Napa", you'll need to set a budget, and there's plenty of fun to be had at any time of year. November-April is the most financially advantageous period.
Is it worth going to Ayia Napa in these months if you can't swim in the sea? For those who enjoy excursions and outdoor activities, a definite "Yes!". However, Ayia Napa itself doesn't have many sights to see, so you'll only need two days.
But you can go to Protaras (to see the "Bridge of Sinners"), Larnaca (to visit the Church of St. Lazarus) and other cities. And also in the "low season" in Ayia Napa go to just relax, breathe the sea air, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. In April-May or October you should come to the resort to save money and swim in the sea.
