Safety in Punta Cana
Although the resort offers a fairly lavish vacation, the locals live poorly. It is therefore not surprising that theft is rampant in the resort, especially at night. It should be taken into account that locals are very curious, and not always increased sociability is associated with possible malicious intent. But it is better to keep valuables in a safe and pay with a card.
There are plenty of private guides in the city. They can easily be confused with the average local who has volunteered to help you. It is advisable to discourage any offers immediately and seek the services of an official tour guide. Women are strongly advised not to appear in deserted places unaccompanied; it is better to use transportation.
Safety in Punta Cana is closely linked to the local water. You can't even rinse your mouth with tap water when brushing your teeth, as this can cause illness. Only bottled water should be used. You should also be wary of local mosquitoes and use special mosquito repellent.
