Description of Fiji's Attractions
Fiji Museum: This unique museum is a collection of materials on the anthropology and history of the archipelago. It is located in Suva, in the middle of Thurston Gardens.
St. Francis Xavier High Church: This Catholic church is situated on a hilltop in Suva and is notable for its picturesque frescoes adorning its vaults.
Orchid Island: Located ten kilometers from Suva, Orchid Island is the oldest cultural center of the islands. It comprises a vast complex that combines a park with educational elements. Albert Park is dedicated to pilot Charles Kingsford-Smith, in honor of his historic landing on the island in 1928 during the first mile-long flight from the United States to Australia. Adjacent to the park is the Orchid Island Polynesian Cultural Center, which also includes a Cultural Village with workshops and souvenir shops.
Beka Island: This small island is of interest because the Sawau tribe living on it still practices the tradition of charcoal-making.
Astrolabia Reef: This 50-meter-long coral formation lies underwater off the coast of Kandavu Island. The reef is a haven for various marine species, and divers visit it year-round.
Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park: Located near the town of Sigatoka, this park is home to a unique natural formation consisting of sand dunes, concealing many archaeological treasures.
Swami Shiva Shri Subramanya Temple: This magnificent Hindu shrine rises 30 meters high above Nadi. The temple is constructed with colorful materials and consists of three interconnected parts. It is dedicated to the gods Murugan, Ganesha, and Meenakshi.
The Garden of the Sleeping Giant: Located in the foothills of Nausori, this botanical park is 15 kilometers away from Nadi. It boasts approximately two thousand orchids, and you can visit the park from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm by paying an entrance fee of 10 USD.
Lovoni: This village on the island of Ovalau is built right within a volcanic crater.
