Cologne Bonn Airport is an important aviation hub serving northwestern Germany. Konrad Adenauer Airport is an important aviation hub serving northwestern Germany. The air terminal is located within the Vaner Heide Nature Reserve, 15 km from Cologne and 16 km from Bonn. It receives about 12.3 million passengers annually.
The airport serves about 60 airlines flying to 130 domestic and international destinations to 39 countries. It is equipped with 3 runways, allowing it to receive various types of aircraft, including large airliners.
There are 2 main terminals for scheduled flights operating 24 hours a day on the territory of the air terminal:
- Terminal 1. It was built in 1970. It is intended for flights of Germanwings, Eurowings, Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.
- Terminal 2. A new modern building that was opened in 2000. It serves most of the airlines with which the airport cooperates.
In addition, the air station has a General Aviation terminal. It is designed for private and business flights.
