Cannes: map and city districts

After reading this material, you will be able to easily navigate the city and will know the best places to stay in Cannes.

Most of the city's hiking trails are signposted along the sea. Even without a map of Cannes, you'll easily find the Old Port (le Vieux Port), where the Royal Regatta calls, the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès with its Walk of Stars, where some 300 actors have left their handprints, the legendary Boulevard de la Croisette and other sights.

However, if you set out in search of the 14 walls decorated with cinema-themed murals, or head to the historic city center located on Mont Chevalier, it is still better to have a map with you.

You can pick up a map of Cannes with hotels, dining venues, and attractions at the tourist office next to the Palais des Festivals. Usually, on the reverse side of such a Cannes map, you will find a brief description of a route recommended for exploring the city.

Which district of Cannes should you stay in? The answer to this question depends on the contents of your wallet and your leisure preferences.

La Croisette

This district is the most prestigious and expensive in Cannes. Its advantages include proximity to the sea, beaches, and boutiques such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and other luxury brands. La Croisette is home to the city’s best hotels and restaurants.

City Center

This part of town is considered the area around Rue d’Antibes. The central district of Cannes is also nicknamed “the banana.” To understand why, just look at its outline on the map. It is convenient for accommodation if you plan a rich cultural and entertainment program. Life here is vibrant and dynamic. In addition, hotel prices in the center are more affordable than on La Croisette.

Californie

Located east of the city center, this district consists mainly of villas, including those owned by celebrities. Californie’s advantages are its beautiful scenery and clean sea. It is the best part of Cannes to stay in if you seek peace and a connection with nature.

Old Town

Staying in Le Suquet attracts visitors with its historic atmosphere and its proximity to many landmarks: the Musée de la Castre, the Church of Our Lady of Hope (Notre-Dame de l’Esperance), and others. From Mont Chevalier, where this historic district is located, there is an excellent view of the harbor and the city.

Petit Juas

This district lies just a few minutes’ drive north of the Old Town. It is mostly made up of private villas and cottages.

Unlike Paris or Marseille, Cannes has no dangerous neighborhoods, but it is still advisable to remain vigilant.
