There are three tourist destinations in Cannes that are particularly popular with visitors.
Walk from the Palais des Festivals along the Boulevard de la Croisette.
First, it's so beautiful that you won't be able to resist taking a few photos of the sprawling palm trees, the azure sea, the Carlton Hotel and the famous blue chairs. Secondly, it's quite realistic to see Robert De Niro, Nicole Kidman and other celebrities walking leisurely along the promenade.
Just remember that according to an unspoken rule, it is not allowed to get autographs from stars in public places during the film festival. Thirdly, along the Croisette there are many boutiques of famous French fashion houses. During promotions and sales, which are organized here from time to time, designer shoes, for example, can be bought for only 20-30 EUR.
Shopping on a "banana"
No shopaholic has ever returned from Cannes without stopping at a couple or three unplanned spots. Rue Antibes is the main shopping promenade of the city. On it and adjacent streets are located chain stores, boutiques of famous brands with clothes, shoes, decorative items, jewelry and perfumes. Stores are usually open from nine in the morning to eight in the evening.
Walk through the Old Town.
Walking around Cannes' Xuquet neighborhood is a promenade for antique connoisseurs and foodies. If you're one of the former, be sure to climb the Chevalier mountain, if the latter, visit the Forville market.
If you want to get a closer look at the exotic nature of Provence, head for the Massif de l'Estérel. It stretches from Fréjus to the festival town. The fiery red cliffs contrasting with the azure of the sea will leave a lasting impression on your soul. No Cannes itinerary is as stunning as a trip to these mountains!
To take panoramic photos, climb the Pic de l'Ours. It offers stunning views of the Alps. To relax, head down to one of the coves with crystal-clear water and a sparse beach.
