French Customs operates according to the traditional principles of the European Union.

What you can bring into France by plane:

  • Currency less than 10000 EUR must be declared
  • 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars or 250 g of tobacco
  • Up to 50 ml of perfume or 250 ml of toilet water
  • 500 g of coffee or 200 g of coffee extract, 100 g of tea or 40 g of tea extract
  • Drugs and other medicines in quantities necessary to meet personal needs

What is prohibited to bring into France:

  • Narcotics
  • Drugs and medicines
  • Firearms and ammunition
  • Miscellaneous poisonous and explosive substances
  • Plants with soil
  • Wild animals and birds
  • Meat and dairy products, except for baby and dietary food

What is prohibited to take out of France:

  • Any objects of artistic and historical value, as well as antiques
  • Up to 1 liter of spirits or 2 liters of wine
  • Up to 3 liters duty free. Each additional liter is subject to duty

France has a Tax Free system. It allows you to return 20% of the cost of your purchases at the border, provided you buy them in stores that support the system, fill in special receipts and keep the integrity of the packaging. The minimum purchase amount is 100 EUR.
