As a ski resort, Les Arcs was founded in 1960. It was initiated by French tourism manager Roger Godinot, together with local guide Roberto Blanca. First of all, a small settlement was built in the heart of the mountainous uplands, at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level. Subsequently, this small settlement was supplemented by buildings at 1800, 1950 and 2000 meters above sea level.
The national currency here, as in all of France, is the Euro (EUR). The resort area is considered one of the most expensive, so when traveling here, get ready to get rid of a tidy sum of savings. As for the history of the appearance of Les Arcs, the ski resort was built according to the surviving designs of Charlotte Periyan, who is considered a follower of the architect-constructivist Le Corbusier.
