Although Munich is a city with a low crime rate, you should not neglect basic safety precautions. Do not leave valuables unattended (including in the car) and do not carry large sums of money.
In fact, most stores and restaurants in Munich do not accept 500 and 200 EUR banknotes unless they have special machines to check the authenticity of the bills, so make sure you change them beforehand.
You should also take photocopies of your documents when you go for a walk in the city and leave the originals in a safe place.
