Sidari's moderate maritime climate will appeal to fans of warm, non-sweltering summers. The average annual temperature is +22°C. The climate is truly unique. Summer on Corfu island, and consequently in Sidari, is milder than in the rest of island Greece. And winters are warm and rainy with frosty evenings. Corfu Island receives a high proportion of rainfall, which is favorably reflected in its lush vegetation. There are no rainy seasons in Sidari, but occasional rainfall can occur in May and temperatures can drop to +18°C. The waves of the Ionian Sea, which wash over the sandy beaches and bizarrely shaped cliffs, are not known for their rough nature, and storms and tempests are not frequent.
Sidari's vegetation and wildlife
April and May in the Greek village is characterized by a riot of colors, because it is during this period that the vegetation in Sidari begins to please the eye. The microclimate of the coast is favorable for most of the wild flowers that bloom all year round. In spring the village turns into one big blooming garden: wild orchids, irises, crocuses, lilies, hyacinths, violets and cyclamen.
The hills and fields of Sidari are covered with slender olive trees, which in some places are replaced by majestic cypresses. The Sidari olives are unlike the rest of their relatives, as they are almost never pruned here and appear very tall.
The animal life of Sidari is also diverse. Mostly a lot of birds can be found here, experts count about 449 species of feathered birds. In the bed of the picturesque Tiflos River, east of Sidari, there are many fish.
