City transportation
The main means of transportation in Vilnius are buses and trolleybuses. Please note: if a bus has a "G" in its number, it is a fast bus and does not stop at all stops (more information can be found at official website).
Tickets are paid with single tickets, e-tickets (sold at ticket offices and Lietuvos spauda kiosks) or "Vilnius City Map" - Vilniečio kortelė (sold at information tourist centers).
Fare
The price of transportation in Vilnius depends on where you buy tickets (from the driver is more expensive than in kiosks), as well as the validity period (for 30 minutes - 0.64 EUR, for 60 minutes - 0.93 EUR, for 24 hours - 3.48 EUR, for 240 hours - 11.87 EUR).
Tourist tips
Our advice to tourists: it is better to pay for transportation in Vilnius with Vilniečio kortelė (20 EUR for two days and 30 EUR for three). This card entitles you to free admission to museums, discounts on excursions, car and bicycle rentals and other benefits.
Fines for fare dodging range from 17 EUR (if you admit guilt right away) to 29 EUR (if you try to complain). Children under 7 ride for free, while schoolchildren get a 50% discount.
