Of course, the Lithuanian capital is not a tourist record-breaker like Amsterdam or London, but there's plenty to see and do on a Vilnius sightseeing map.
The most important landmark on the Vilnius map is Old Town with the university building in the middle. By the way, Vilnius University is one of the few European universities that is still based in the building where it was founded in the 16th century.
Among other "pearls" of the Old Town are the Castle Hill and Gedimin's Tower with a viewing platform (photos of these sights of Vilnius decorate any tourist prospectus), the former Bernardine Monastery on Malunu Street, St. Bartholomew's Church and Zarechnaya Street.
Užupis ("Zarechie") is a free republic of artists with its own constitution and honorary citizens. A separate neighborhood of Vilnius, where artists gather. There are many galleries, souvenir shops and cozy restaurants.
Amber Museum - a description of this Vilnius attraction, we think, will be superfluous. On Sv. Mykolo gatve 8, in the XVII century mansion, the world's largest collection of petrified resin is exhibited. You can also buy jewelry and souvenirs made by local craftsmen.
