Where is Tioman?

According to one of the myths, Tioman was founded thanks to a beautiful Chinese dragon princess, who sailed to her lover in Singapore, but was so amazed by the beauty of the area that she asked the gods to turn her into the most picturesque island. In return, she promised that every traveler who stopped on the shores of the island would be gifted with comfort and high hospitality.

Compared to other islands in Malaysia, Tioman is not spoiled by tourists. There are only a few more or less large villages, with many small huts built to accommodate tourists.

The island has been developing more intensively in recent years. This is due to the fact that it has been granted duty-free status. The permanent population of Tioman is estimated at a few hundred indigenous people. All of them are very friendly to tourists.
