City Transportation
Monte Carlo features a well-organized public bus system with five distinct routes. Each bus adheres to a precise schedule posted at bus stops, departing every 10 minutes. Buses cover routes that intersect at major tourist spots, including the casino, train station, and Larvotto beach. Operating hours are from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased for 1.5 EUR at kiosks or for 2 EUR from the driver. For frequent bus users, it's advisable to consider a day pass with unlimited trips, costing 5.5 EUR. Children under five can ride the buses for free.
Another unique aspect of public transportation in Monte Carlo is the system of escalators and elevators that transport residents and visitors between tiers within the city. This mode of transportation is entirely free of charge.
Tourists can also enjoy a half-hour journey around the Principality on a small steam train that operates daily, excluding the winter months (from mid-November to the end of January).
For an alternative experience, you can take the water bus (boat) that shuttles between the two sides of Hercule harbor, running from Quai Kenedy to Terre-plein du Fort Antoine.
