Lublin Main Bus Station or Dworzec Lublin is a modern transportation hub, opened in January 2024, which has become an important part of the city's infrastructure.
History and features
The Lublin Metropolitan Bus Station or Dworzec Lublin is not just a bus station, but a whole infrastructure center that combines buses, trains, public transport and even minibuses. It is located in the Za Cukrownią district, literally a stone's throw away from the main train station. It was built from 2021 to 2023, and already in January 2024 it welcomed its first passengers.
The main goal of the construction was to make the transfer as convenient as possible for passengers, so that there was no need to run from one station to another. This significantly improved the city logistics. In addition, with the new station, the city received a lot of upgrades - from road repairs to a new bridge and pedestrian zones.
The design began in 2017. The bus station is equipped with a waiting room for 250-300 people and dozens of platforms for buses. There are parking lots for short and long term parking, convenient entrances, a turning circle for vehicles and even kiss&ride zones - to give someone a ride and not to look for parking.
The first time after opening, tours and open houses were organized here. Carriers gradually moved out of the old bus station - it took about a year in total.
The station itself is modern, two-story, with a green roof, which you can climb up. The architecture is not only stylish, but also environmentally friendly: there is rainwater catchment, anti-smog tiles and economical lighting. The project has already won international awards for this.

Other bus stations
Not so long ago there were two bus stations in Lublin. There was also the Old Bus Station near the Castle at Aleja Tysiąclecia, 6. It is located in the administrative district of Sredmieście, on the site of the former Jewish quarter. The modernist pavilion of the station was designed by Wieslaw Zochowski, an architect who also designed buildings in Switzerland and Nigeria. Construction began in 1965 and the opening took place on December 17, 1967.
On March 25, 2022, the station pavilion was included in the Voivodeship Register of Monuments. But the register did not include the brick parts of the building on the sides of the hall, the modernist aprons and the land under the main hall. After the opening of the new bus station, its importance gradually declined. It served selected regional routes and finally ceased operation in February 2025.
