Whether you're traveling to Poland for a couple of weeks or for a weekend getaway, it's essential to have a map of Warsaw.
The city is divided into 18 districts (dzielnice). The most interesting places for tourists are located in the center and south of Warsaw, where the main sights are concentrated. If you already have a map of Warsaw, mark on it such names as Śródmieście, Wilanów, and Ursynów.
The city is roughly divided in half by the Vistula River. Most hotels are located on the left bank of the river, as you can see on the map of Warsaw with hotels (the right bank of the Polish capital is mostly residential areas).
When deciding in which district of Warsaw to stay, keep in mind that all the most interesting things are traditionally located in the city center, but accommodation prices there are higher.
The most expensive hotels and most of the historical and architectural monuments are located in Srodmiescie, the oldest district in the center of Warsaw.
Fashionable modern buildings can be seen in Praga Poludna and Praga Północ - this is also the center of the city (eastern part). Tourists will be interested to know that for a long time Warsaw Prague has been positioned as a dangerous district of the city.
In the western part of Warsaw, there is the district of Wola. Here, tourists can see beautiful mansions and numerous cultural sites such as churches and temples of various denominations.
The southern districts of Warsaw are also of interest to travelers (when choosing where to stay, consider them). These include Ursynów and Wilanów. Ursynów is known for its historical national park, while Wilanów is famous for the Wilanów Palace.
