Among the best restaurants in Cala d’Or are:
Vista. Here — and only here — you can truly savor the authentic taste of the Mediterranean while overlooking Marina Cala d’Or. Upon prior request, the restaurant can arrange a lively banquet featuring Lechona al Horno — a spiced roast suckling pig — or a romantic candlelit dinner accompanied by glasses of sparkling Felanitx or Binissalem. A la carte menu — 35–60 EUR.
Petit. According to guests, this is the Cala d’Or restaurant with the richest and most diverse menu. Located in picturesque El Puerto Deportivo, it serves the finest dishes made from fresh fish and seafood, along with special vegetarian, dairy, and gluten-free options. Prices vary depending on the format: daily menu — 25–40 EUR, a la carte menu — 40–55 EUR, tasting menu — 55–80 EUR.
Selani — perhaps one of the finest family-friendly venues in Cala d’Or. It serves exquisite Mediterranean paella, tender pork steaks with fresh salad, and homemade chocolate mousse accompanied by Brule liqueur. The average bill at Restaurant Selani ranges from 5–40 EUR.
Scala. An Italian restaurant with an innovative spirit — this is how La Scala, opened in Puerto La Marina 12 years ago, can be described. The menu features lobster ragout, gambas shrimp, vegetable sauté, and a variety of fresh fruit dishes. A la carte menu — up to 30 EUR.
An excellent alternative to the refined “evening” restaurants of the Golden Coast are the affordable establishments of Cala d’Or (Churchills, Paparazzi), tapas bars serving snacks with beer, sherry, or wine, as well as the best cafés offering a set menu del día (starter, main course, dessert, aperitif) from 8 EUR per person. There are no Russian restaurants in Cala d’Or; however, you can head to the island’s capital and enjoy an extensive European menu, for example, at Ciro’s.
In mid-range bars and cafés in Cala d’Or, it is customary to leave 1–2 EUR in tips, while in fine dining restaurants about 10% of the total bill is expected. Spaniards themselves, when ordering a simple lunch, a beer with a snack, or a cup of aromatic coffee with a croissant costing 5–10 EUR, usually leave a few small coins or simply pay the bill without additional gratuity. A large dinner or banquet, however, calls for an extra token of appreciation as a sign of good manners.
Hotel staff — porters and housekeepers — should also be tipped: around 0.5–1 EUR for minor services.
