For those wishing to explore the sights of Cala d'Or, mini-vacations around the area are ideal.
The map of Cala d'Or attractions includes:
- Mondrago Nature Park. On an area of just under 800 hectares there is a zoo with rare species of animals and birds, a botanical garden, cozy bays for swimming and relaxing. Among the slender rows of centuries-old pine trees there is a chance to meet a family of owls, in the turquoise lagoon - motley colonies of fish. You can go to Mondrago by Star Fish boat, catamaran or rented car (paid parking is located 200 meters from the park entrance).
- Drach Cave is Mallorca's most popular cave, with Europe's largest underground lake (about 170 meters long and 8 meters deep). "Walk" on more than two-kilometer paths under the arched vaults is complemented by a concert by the water: musicians glide along the lake surface, illuminated only by the sparks of candles. Photos of Cala d'Or are not able to convey the beauty of this magical spectacle. When planning your trip, please note that all types of photography are prohibited in the natural complex.
- Ancient Monastery of San Salvador, built at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level in the XI century. There is also a statue of Jesus Christ and a working cozy temple. On the scheme of attractions of Cala d'Or the road to the monastery of San Salvador is marked as serpentine - narrow, steep, dizzying. In spring, it hosts one of the pro-tour cycling races.
At the gates of Cala d'Or, the Cala Ferrera quarter is one of the most interesting places to visit. This idyllic area of the city looks as if it were painted by artists: blossoming almonds, curly petunias, dazzling white houses, old souvenirs, cozy cafes and, of course, colorful locals. Here, more than anywhere else, you can enjoy true Mediterranean serenity.
