This resort is unique in that all the city's landmarks are concentrated in one place: on the mountain and around it, where the famous fortress is located. You can explore them on your own by choosing one of the walking routes.
A day trip walking route in Alanya
This tourist route is designed for a whole day and will require some expenses for tickets to some buildings and the cable car. You should start early in the morning after having a hearty breakfast.
Cleopatra Beach and Surroundings
The journey begins at the famous Cleopatra Beach, where you can swim in the sea at the start of the trip. Then, you can explore the Damlatas Cave, which is located just 100 meters away from the beach area.
Entry is paid. However, we recommend purchasing a combined ticket to see not only the cave but also the Tersane Shipyard and the Red Tower. Each ticket separately will cost significantly more.
After that, you can go back and purchase a ticket for the cable car, which will take you to the mountaintop, to the Ehmedek Fortress. You will have to walk a few meters on wooden platforms. Here, in addition to Ehmedek, you can also visit:
The inner fortress of Ick-Kale. Inside, you will find water cisterns and a partially ruined St. George's Church;
The active Suleymaniye Mosque;
A ticket-free museum called Traditional Turkish House. Follow the signs from the mosque to get there.
From here, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Cape of Gelidonya and the Mediterranean Sea. If you bring binoculars or a camera, you may be able to see the Christian monastery on the cape. The road to it is impassable.
After seeing all the landmarks, you can walk down the mountain on paths that pass near the highway. The descent will take about an hour. Beautiful houses are located on both sides of the path-streets. This is part of Old Alanya. By the way, while descending, take the Red Tower as a landmark - try to get as close to it as possible.
