When deciding in which neighborhood of Philadelphia to stay, you should first of all decide how much money you are ready to spend on accommodation. The most expensive is traditionally the city center. You will not need a map of Philadelphia with hotels to choose the best one — in the center they are located in beautiful places and offer a high level of service. Having sufficient funds, it is best to stay here. The area in the center of Philadelphia still retains the atmosphere of a small colonial town.

If your budget is rather modest, the Philadelphia map suggests staying in the affordable North East district. You can also find reasonably priced accommodation in South Phila. It is commonly believed that southern areas of cities are less safe, but in the case of Philadelphia, that’s not entirely true.

Here, the most disadvantaged area is actually North Philadelphia. In the past, it was home to European settlers, but over a 50-year period starting from 1950, they gradually moved to the suburban areas, leaving space for poorer and more crime-prone populations. Today, almost half of the residents in this part of the city are African Americans, and about 30% are Spanish-speaking.

Among the best neighborhoods to live in Philadelphia are East Falls, Roxborough, and Manayunk. The latter is considered more youthful — it’s where the city map shows the highest concentration of nightclubs, bars, and cinemas.
