Events and entertainment in Kitzbühel

Entertainment in Kitzbühel isn't just about skiing and steep slopes. There's a casino in town, located in the Goldener Grief hotel. There are three discotheques in the city center - Club Take 5, Olympia and Royal. They open at 9pm and close at night and sometimes at dawn.

But Kitzbühel is much better known as a sporting town. Competitions in Kitzbühel take place all the time, and at a high level. A highlight of the winter season is the spectacular Hahnenkamm-Rennen, where the best riders in the world compete on the world's most difficult ski slope, the Streif. This is the famous World Cup course.

Competitions in downhill and other ski sports have been held since 1931. The main points remain unchanged, and include the aforementioned downhill "Streif", combination and slalom on the Ganslernhang course.

The Hahnenkamm-Rennen is the main sporting and social event of the year in Kitzbühel. During the event, the town is full of journalists, politicians and stars from all over the world and thousands of spectators gather in the stands.
