Kitzbühel's ski slopes are especially suitable for professionals who already have a good knowledge of skiing. The snow cover lasts all winter long and about 65 kilometers of pistes are artificially snow-covered. Considering that there are at least 170 km of pistes in the entire region, this is not a lot.
When people talk about Kitzbühel, they mean the cradle of Austrian skiing. The ski areas run from south to southwest and northeast, forming a gigantic expanse that stretches from the Brechhorn (2031 meters) to the Steinbergkogel and Hahnenkamm mountains. Then, via Kitzbüheler-Horn and Kirchberg, it goes to the town of Jochberg 10 km south of the river Jochberger Ahe and the Turn Pass, which is more than 20 km to the south.
The longest ski run is 7 kilometers long, the "blue" Pengelstein Süd on the Kitzbüheler Horn. In addition to slopes for beginners and a few black runs for pros, intermediate skiers can use the Kitzbuhel Ski Safari area. It is provided with ski slopes and elevators leading from Hahnenkamm south to the Thurn Pass to Kitzbühel, among others.
A special bus takes skiers back to Kitzbühel. All ski slopes in Kitzbühel are equipped with reliable safety systems, rescue services and timely medical assistance.
