The abundance of historical sites in Golden Sands makes it a very attractive resort. In the heart of the resort is the church of St. John the Baptist, with a remarkable chapel and richly decorated interior halls.
One can also visit the ruins of the Orthodox monastery of Aladzha, surrounded by a well-preserved string of monastic cave cells. Or you can visit the local mineral springs. There are several ways to get there from the resort. If time and energy allow, you can even make a peculiar walking pilgrimage - the way in one direction will take about 40 minutes.
If you take a look at the map of the nearest attractions, you will see that Golden Sands is very well situated. The large city of Varna with its many interesting cultural sites and the slightly smaller resort of Balchik are situated at about the same distance from the resort.
In Balchik, travelers are mostly interested in the rocky Cape Kaliakra, the Botanical Garden, the Queen's Palace or a visit to the mussel farm. In general, Golden Sands is literally surrounded by various interesting things. So, to understand what suits you first, we recommend to read the descriptions of the sights of the resort. This will help you make a general impression and plan your tour.
If you do not want to go anywhere, and to bring a couple of pictures of the local sights necessary - you can just go for a leisurely stroll along the promenade and look carefully around. Here you will, for example, see a scaled-down copy of the Eiffel Tower, on the observation deck (much more modest than the original) which also has a restaurant.
The pedestrian area is always very clean, tidy and urban green. In the evening the streets begin to come alive, here and there establishments arrange entertainment programs with oriental dances and live music. Everyone will find something to his liking.
