Sozopol resort climate

Nature has generously endowed this corner of Bulgaria. Warm summers, waves of the Black Sea, lush vegetation on the coast make the resort of Sozopol a magnet for tourists from many countries. The rainy season in Sozopol does not last long — April, May and December, however it should be noted that even in these months the number of cloudy and rainy days is only 4-6. Most of the year in the city is sunny and dry.

Sozopol is famous not only for its festivals, sunny beaches and warm sea. One of the unique pearls of the resort is the nature reserve at the mouth of the Ropotamo River on the outskirts of the town.

Flora and Fauna of Sozopol

In the nature reserve, tourists have the opportunity to witness the flora and fauna of Sozopol in all their diversity and irresistible beauty. Locals call it the Bulgarian Amazon. Nature enthusiasts can explore real jungles formed by vines and ivy, watch huge white lilies swaying on the river surface, and at the river’s mouth encounter unique representatives of Sozopol’s wildlife — dolphins and seals.

On St. John’s Island lives a rare species of Mediterranean seal, along with 72 bird species, many of which are on the brink of extinction.
