Here, narrow streets are lined with buildings in a variety of styles: Gothic, Baroque, Neoclassical, and Renaissance. What to see:

  • The ruins of the fortress walls, which once protected the city from invaders, in the northern and southern parts of the Old Town. Three of the seven gates of the fortress have also survived: St. Benedict's Gate, Holy Cross Gate, and the Fish Market Gate.

At the top of the hill, you will find yourself in front of the Cathedral of St. Eufimia, the largest in Istria. The height of the bell tower is 62 meters. On its very top, there is a five-meter statue of the holy great martyr made of bronze. And the relics of St. Euphemia are kept in the cathedral. You can continue your walk through the Old Town by visiting the heptagonal chapel of the Holy Trinity and the ancient Church of Our Lady of Mercy.

A mandatory point of the sightseeing program is Califfi Palace, built in Venetian style. On the Rovinj sightseeing map, you will also find it in the Old Town. For many years, the palace was the residence of a noble princely family. Today it houses the Rovinj City Museum, where you can find copies of paintings by famous artists, sculptures, folk costumes, archaeological finds, ship models, and many other artifacts.
