The whole village can be divided into several areas - Kapparis and Pernera (beach areas within walking distance of the center - quiet and more secluded), as well as the central part (where 90% of bars, restaurants, and stores are concentrated). The central area of Protaras also has access to the beach - it's always crowded, but the prices are slightly cheaper than on the beachfront.
All the beaches in Protaras are municipal, so even near the most luxurious 5-star hotel, you can swim for free. You'll only have to pay for a sunbed and umbrella (about 5 EUR), bathing gear, and other related items - if you want to save money, bring your own personalized mat. All beaches are similar to each other - fine sand of white or yellow color, no waves, blue water. About 90% of them have the EU blue flag - the highest award for clean and environmentally friendly beaches.
The Fig tree bay, named for its proximity to fig groves, is considered the main beach, followed by Mouzoura Beach and Louma Beach. You can take the number 102 bus to Konnos Beach in the bay of the same name, the small and rocky Scoutari Beach in the northern part of the resort, and Agia Triada Beach next to it (mainly used for boarding boats).
Which beach in Protaras is best
- If you value convenience - choose the popular Fig Tree Bay area (about 20 restaurants and cafes, free parking, the main disadvantage - a lot of people);
- If you want to jump off the piers or ride on catamarans or motorboats - go to the beach near the hotel Constantinos the Great;
- Diving is better to do in the area of Green Bay - there are colorful underwater rocks and submerged sculptures of Apollo and Aphrodite;
- The largest choice of sport water attractions - on Protaras Beach;
- Among the best beaches for family vacations with children in Protaras are Golden Coast (a small bay protected by two breakwaters, there are lifeguard towers) and Fig Tree Bay (easy access to the water, catamarans with children's slides, personal safes for valuables).
