The city of Kutaisi has been mentioned in the works of ancient thinkers as far back as the 2nd millennium BC. Today, Kutaisi is an ancient city where architectural styles from the Byzantine era, the Middle Ages, the Soviet period, and the present day intricately intertwine. Kutaisi is the second-largest city in Georgia. In 2013, the parliament was relocated here, and a new building was constructed for it, earning Kutaisi the title of the second capital.
