The airport is located between the commune of Meyrand (France) and the commune of Grand Sakonnet (Switzerland), along the northern part along the Swiss-French border. It is therefore divided into Swiss and French sectors. The airport can be accessed from the territories of both countries. The IATA code of the Swiss sector is GVA, and that of the French sector is GGV.
