Information Overview

The cable car started operating in 2012 and quickly became extremely popular. In 2017, the cabins were replaced with new and very comfortable ones, making the cable car even safer.

The cabins are designed for eight passengers, and there are a total of seven cabins. They ride very smoothly without stopping, only slowing down at the stations to allow passengers to get on or off.

The length of the cable car is 600 meters. It is shorter than the cable car in Batumi but equally beautiful. The journey to the top of the hill where the fortress is located will take only 2 minutes of your time. There are many people on the cable car, but there are no queues.

What to See at the Top

At the top, there is an observation deck that offers beautiful views of Tbilisi from above. In addition to the observation deck, tourists can visit the Narikala Fortress or another attraction located here - the Statue of Mother Georgia (Kartlis Deda). This twenty-meter monument is considered a symbol of the city.

You can return either by cable car or by walking through the city's streets. We recommend taking a stroll and enjoying the beautiful views.

When going on the cable car, bring water with you, as there are no shops at the top, and consider wearing a head covering.

Operating Schedule and Fare

You can pay for the cable car ride only with a Metromoney card. It is a kind of travel card that can be used for any public transportation in the city. The cost of the card is 2 GEL. After purchasing the card, you need to top it up with the desired amount. The card can be returned, and the remaining balance will be refunded to you.

How to Get There

• Bus: Buses with numbers 31, 44, 50, 55, 71, 80, 102 go to the cable car. You need to get off at the "Europe Square" stop.
• Metro: You need to go to the "Avlabari" station.
• On Foot: If you live near Rike Park, you can take a walk. Use the Metekhi Church and the Bridge of Peace as landmarks.
