History of Creation
The Bridge of Peace was constructed under the initiative of the former President Mikhail Saakashvili in 2010. The bridge was designed by the talented Italian architect, Michele De Lucchi, who also created other remarkable buildings such as the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Architecture of the Structure
The bridge is made of steel and glass. It spans 156 meters in length and is 5 meters wide. It is a pedestrian bridge over the Kura River, serving the purpose of connecting both sides of the city. The bridge is often frequented by newlyweds for its picturesque photo opportunities.
Entertainment
Make sure to visit this architectural masterpiece after sunset. Thanks to the meticulous work of the French designer Philippe Martino, the bridge is illuminated with thirty thousand miniature bulbs at night. It also transmits a Morse code message, which represents Mendeleev's Periodic Table. After all, every person is a chemistry in themselves.
