Excursions in Kardamena can be categorized into several types:
- sightseeing tours in Cardamena: a guide will tell you about the history of the city's founding, the development of shipbuilding and local customs;
- bus tours outside of Cardamena. The most popular routes include visits to Asklepion, Paleo Pili village, thermal springs in Terma village (4 km from Agios Fokas resort, cost from 15 EUR per person);
- sea excursions offer several variants of routes: a sightseeing tour along the coast of Kos island with fishing and barbecue on one of the picturesque beaches (price - from 50 EUR per person); a trip to the extinct volcano (the last eruption occurred about 700 years ago) on the island of Nisyros (price - from 40 EUR per person). It is worth to tell more about the volcano. According to the legend, the giant Polybot angered Poseidon, and the latter threw a piece of the island of Kos at him in retaliation. Polybot survived, but he could not get out from under the debris. So he sighs to this day, lamenting his fate. Besides the volcano, the island of Nisyros is home to the Church of Our Lady of the Caves, healing springs, a castle, a monastery and ancient ruins. From Kardamena, the island can be reached by barque (travel time is about an hour).
