Greece has a mild Mediterranean climate with warm and dry summers and wet winters. Most of the rain falls between November and February. This is when the rainy season begins on Kefalos. The waves of the Aegean Sea are gentle and calm. They are also completely independent of the tides.
For water sports enthusiasts, it's important to know that Kefalos is located on the leeward side and the water is calm and smooth regardless of the weather.
Kephalos' vegetation and fauna.
The island of Kos could be the subject of an Animal Planet program - so rich is the local wildlife! Some of the most interesting wildlife on Kos include sea turtles and Mediterranean seals, which can be seen on the southern coast near Kefalos Bay.
The western part of the island is uninhabited and inhabited by the wildlife of Kefalos. Partridges and pheasants are found here. And locals occasionally leave their apiaries here.
Also not far from the resort is the fabulous peacock forest of Plaka. Here the birds live without cages and aviaries, and anyone can take pictures with them or even feed them from their hands. Along with the peacocks, the reserve is also home to a population of wild cats and turtles.
The plant life of Kefalos is also incredibly rich and diverse. The pine forest, which gives a wonderful fragrance to visitors to Plaka, is worth mentioning.
