Discovering the city
The most popular way to explore the city is on sightseeing tours of Budapest, either on foot or by bus. Must-stops include Heroes' Square and City Park, Fisherman's Bastion and Vajdahunyad Castle Complex, Matyas Church and the Parliament building.
Cost of the tour in Budapest
From 38,000 to 50,000 HUF (120-150 EUR) for a group of 3 participants or 45,000-70,000 HUF for a group of 10 people. The sightseeing tours last 3-4 hours and can be booked in advance (if you need a tour in Budapest with a Russian guide), by picking up a prospectus at the reception desk of any hotel or directly at Heroes' Square (where tour groups are recruited).
From among the more original tours:
Themed tours
An introduction to the Austro-Hungarian Art Nouveau "Secession," tours of cosmopolitan ruin bars or the Jewish quarter of Budapest, which has become a student favorite. Such excursions cost from 9,500 HUF.
Gastronomic and shopping tours
The "culinary" tours of Budapest are especially popular - the guide will tell you where to try the famous Hungarian sausages with paprika, what is makos guba and where the most delicious kürtesz kalachi are baked.
Bus excursions
Budapest and its suburbs - the Pilis hills, the Danube bend (Esztergom and Visegrad), the world's largest thermal lake, Lake Balaton. By the way, it only takes 2.5 hours to drive from Budapest to Vienna - make it a "Vienna weekend".
Amphibious tours on the Danube
For 8000 HUF you can admire the city for 2 hours from a unique "floating" bus! The bus departs from Széchenyi István tér, 7/8.
