Cagliari's sightseeing map will delight every tourist: superb clean beaches, unique archaeological sites, museums and unique monuments are within easy reach.

The most popular attractions in Cagliari, with names that are known far beyond Sardinia:

Torre del Elefante tower.

Торре-дель-Элефанте Tower. This landmark in Cagliari is often referred to in Russian as the "Elephant Tower," although a more accurate translation from Italian would be the "Tower of the Elephant." The tower, built in 1307, acquired its name from the sculpture of an elephant placed on it. The building is located in the historic center of the city, in the Castello district. During the Middle Ages, it served as a prison and execution site, where the heads of prisoners were displayed for public view. It is worth climbing to the observation deck, which costs 3 EUR.

Torre San Pancrazio Tower.

Торре-сан-Панкрацио Tower. Built almost simultaneously with the "Tower of the Elephant" (in 1305), the Torre-san-Pankracio also served as a prison. Photos of this landmark in Cagliari adorn many tourist brochures. Both towers were part of the city's defensive fortifications, surrounded by walls that were 3 meters thick.

Roman amphitheatre

Roman Amphitheatre. Carved into limestone cliffs in the 1st and 2nd centuries, the amphitheatre was used for gladiatorial battles, executions, and sports competitions. No tourist route in Cagliari is complete without a visit to the amphitheatre - this structure is truly worth seeing. Address: Via Sant'Ignazio da Laconi, 19. The adult entrance ticket costs 4.3 EUR, child ticket costs 2.2 EUR, and student ticket costs 2.8 EUR. Children under 6 years old enter for free.

Fortress of San Michele.

San Michele Fortress. Like the towers, the fortress initially served as a defensive structure, so its appearance is quite gloomy. However, today it is constantly used for film screenings, exhibitions, lectures, and other cultural events. The somber fortress has been transformed into a modern center for culture and the arts. Address: Cagliari, Via Sirai s.n.; Tel: +39-070-500-656. The regular entrance ticket costs 5 EUR, and the reduced ticket costs 4 EUR.
