Sliema and Gzira is a resort area in the north of the island near Valletta and is full of stores, beautiful houses and straight streets. Sliema is worth a stop if you want to do some shopping. From here you can start on the island's routes by buses. They run through the terminal in Valletta, which is close. Nearby is also the center of entertainment (in 15-20 minutes walk is Pachville, a famous area of discos, bars, casinos, youth recreation and nightlife). Sliema is considered a fashionable city, Malta, so here stay those who prefer a calm and balanced vacation, not deprived of comfort. But ready to start in any direction, if such a vacation gets boring.
St. Julians combines many contradictions. There's the quiet of the neighborhoods bordering Sliema, the noise of Pachville's disco scene, and the luxury of St. George's Bay's five-star hotels. If you are not embarrassed by the night rumble of discos under the windows - choose Pachville. If you want to find an inexpensive hotel, the Balluta neighborhood is the place to go. If you're looking for an impeccable vacation, go for hotels in Malta, located behind Patchville, near St. George's Bay.
Bujibba and Aura are two incorporated towns in the north of Malta. There are no beaches here, just a few steps on the seafront, but not far away (15 minutes drive) are the sandy beaches of Mellieha. There's also Golden Bay, Paradise Bay and other beaches nearby, as well as Cirkevva, the place where boats leave for Comino Island and ferries to Gozo. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in these parts.
If you want excursions, walks and wild beaches, go to the island of Gozo. If you want to combine everything, start your adventures in Valletta and choose where you start from there.
