The central cities of Malta's regions often have two names. One is Maltese and the other, most often Italian or English. The names of Malta's regions have evolved over the centuries. Malta is divided into 68 municipalities, which are grouped into 3 regions and 6 districts.
Regions of Malta:
Malta Xlokk (Malta Xlokk) is the southern half of the island of Malta with the districts of Inner Harbour and South East. The southern regions of Malta have an area of 64 km². It is home to the country's capital and densely spaced towns.
Malta Majjistral (Malta Majjistral) is the entire northern half of the island of Malta with the districts of North, Outer Harbour, West. These northern regions of Malta have an area of 163 km². There is less population density and the towns are further apart. That is, ten minutes by cab or an hour's walk. However, in the heat of summer, it is better to go by car.
Gozo (Gozo) is the territory of the islands of Gozo and Comino. The region covers an area of 67 km². It is much less populated than the main island, Malta. There are different mores here, and the island is more tourist-oriented. Gozo's ancient sites are thousands of years old and have their own distinctive Maltese history. It's also the island that is considered the probable island of the nymph Callipso.

Climate and landscapes throughout the island of Malta are about the same, the central regions of Malta are a little drier, although even here there is a breeze from the sea. There are more vineyards in this part of the country. There are no mountains on the islands, only gentle limestone hills. The islands are steeper in the north and more gentle in the south. There are no clearly defined tourist regions, the attractions are distributed almost evenly, each city of the districts has its own hotels, restaurants, cafes and stores. There are over 350 churches on the islands. To find out more about the attractions in these parts, check out here.
