In town, as in all resorts, there are two types of restaurants. The first is aimed at tourists: great views from the terrace, average food quality, small portions, and inflated prices.
The best restaurants in Bar, however, are those that don't adjust to the tourist seasons. They tend to be a little off the main streets and mostly serve huge portions of local cuisine. For example, pršut (dried and wilted pork ham according to ancient recipes) or lamb cooked in a clay pan with coals under a special sač hood.
Prices in such restaurants in Bar are relatively affordable: a good dinner with wine here will cost 30-40 EUR for two people. As an example, we recommend Kaldrma. Try the lamb čorba, lamb under sač, puff pastries with young cheese, herbal teas with honey, and the specialty raspberry and dogwood nalewka.
A few of Bar's inexpensive restaurants to recommend are Sunce on Rista Lekića (home cooking), Ciao (Italian restaurant - pizza, lasagna, salmon spaghetti with white sauce), Knjaževa Bašta (delicious and inexpensive Mediterranean cuisine), and Il Pittore. This Bar restaurant has Russian billiards, free parking, and a children's playground.
Tips are generally not included in the bill. In restaurants and cafes, it is customary to round up the bill or leave a "tip" of about 10% of the check.
For dessert, it's best to go to the best cafes in Bar. For example, in Savoia, tourists and locals come for the huge assortment of cakes, and Mutvak specializes in Montenegrin pies (fillings can be very different: cheese, cottage cheese, meat, fish). It also serves pancakes with chocolate and jam, as well as oriental sweets (baklava, tulumbas, kadaifs, sherbet). Prices in Bar's cafes are average - 10-20 EUR per visit.
