We will tell you about the popular beaches of Budva, where they are located and what entertainment awaits you.
The Adriatic coastline is famous for its beaches - sandy and pebbly, crowded and festival beaches, as well as stunningly clean and comfortable! The most popular beaches for visitors to Old Town, and Montenegro in general, are: Jaz, Slavyanski, Mogren, Becici, and Hawaii - the beaches of St. Nicholas Island. Each location has its own peculiarities, attracts picturesque views, and gives its guests an unforgettable experience.
Jaz Beach
Entry is free
The sky blue of the Adriatic, soft golden sand, rounded pebbles, and the sound of music - that's the recipe for the most popular spot on the entire coast of the Budva Riviera - Jaz Beach. It stretches almost 1.5 km in length and is divided into 2 parts:
First (I)
With a length of 850 meters, it can safely be called the main one.
Second (II)
The second (II), which is slightly smaller - only 450 meters, is a nudist's favorite.
The beach is in unusually high demand from the British and Dutch, but it's also easy to meet fellow countrymen, as the resort is multinational.
The beach is often the center of music festivals and nightlife, and in the recent past has been a concert venue for Madonna and the Rolling Stones.
Where is it located
The beach is located 3km from Budva's Old Town, but it's not a walkable route - the road is too uncomfortable and tiring. You have to walk towards Tivat on the dusty roadside, as there are no sidewalks at all, and then down to the beach.
Taxi
The practical solution is to take a cab, or take a car or bus. A cab will cost you 5-6 EUR one way.
Bus
The bus ride will be more budget-friendly - only 2 EUR. The bus from Budva to Jaz leaves 4-5 times a day from the stop near Cafe Perla.
Car
If you drive your own car, be prepared to pay a daily parking fee of 2 EUR.
What's interesting
The beach surface is pebble, but sand can also be found - both pure golden and mixed with pebbles. The coast is rocky, changing to coarse pebbles in the first part of the beach and fine pebbles with sand in the second part.
The entrance to the water is quite gentle and comfortable, and therefore the beach is suitable for a quiet family vacation with children.
You can come with your own towel and take any available place - it's recommended to do it before 11:00, otherwise all the best loungers will be occupied later and the beach itself will be empty. It's not customary to take up residence at night.
After sea you can:
Rinse off in the freshwater showers;
refresh yourself in the restrooms of the restaurants;
eat.
Local eateries and refreshing cocktails in the bars are all within easy reach.
How much money to take
From 2 to 10 EUR it will cost you to drive to the beach. Renting two legged chairs and an umbrella will cost 25 EUR. The rest of the expenses depend on the style of the vacation and can range from 300-500 EUR for two people.
The options for how to spend your money are many. The most popular entertainment is renting jet skis, catamarans, kayaks, and other beach activities.
Slovenska plaža (Slavyanska plaža)
Entry is free.
The longest beach of the Budva Riviera, a favorite place of rest for both locals and visiting tourists, and all because the beach is located within the city limits and stretches slightly east of the old part of the city.
Location
Slovenski or Slavyanski beach starts at Budvanski port and ends at the tunnel passage to Becici. The beach line is 1640 meters long and 20 meters wide.
The coastline here is small pebbles mixed with sand. Entrance to the water is gentle, with gradually increasing depth, which will be a plus for family couples with children. The water near the shore is a bit muddy and turbulent, but the farther from the shore - the clearer it is.
Infrastructure
The beach is equipped with everything you need:
pressure showers;
toilets;
changing cabins.
The safe swimming area is fenced with buoys. A rescue boat is on duty behind the buoys.
If you come with your own beach gear, the only problem may be choosing a spot. Get to the beach early for a good chance of getting a good spot.
Unbelievable scenery
Budva's city beach is worth a visit not only in the middle of the day, but also in the early morning. Stroll along the promenade, breathing in the scent of flowers and the freshness of the sea breeze, stop for a moment and contemplate the beauty. The coastline offers incredible views of neighboring islands and mountain ranges covered with Mediterranean vegetation.
Prices
If you're a comfort seeker, you can rent a chair and beach umbrella. Prices are decent, but typical for Montenegro. Renting a sunbed and umbrella will cost you from 10 EUR.
There are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the coast. The delicious Balkan cuisine will leave no one indifferent.
A little trick to help you save money: water is best bought at any of the city's supermarkets, and it's advisable to stock up on plenty of it, as it's unforgivably expensive on the beach and in seaside cafes.
The coastal strip, like any tourist destination, is littered with gift shops, selling everything from Chinese trinkets to Serbian textiles.
Mogren (Mogren Beach)
Private beach. Entrance is paid (2 EUR) from the beginning of June until September. Entrance is free from the end of the season.
The picturesque Mogren is owned by Hotel Avala and is wilder but not lacking in amenities. The prices here are much higher than on Slavyanski Beach, but that doesn't scare tourists - during the beach season you can only dream of a free spot!
Where it is located
The small small pebble beach lurks between the layered rocks near Budva. It's a 10-20 minute walk from the center of the Old Town, with about 5 minutes of walking along the coast - a romantic mood is guaranteed.
The beach is divided by a cliff into two parts: the first is considered the most popular, while the second boasts more space. Between the halves there is a passage in the rock, laid out with a wooden path for convenience.
The water on the beach is clearer and warmer, and the descent into the water is gentle.
Facilities
It's possible to spread out on your own towel, but it's hard to find a free spot, as the beach is tiny and mostly resembles a cove, sheltered from the city's eyes by rocks and greenery.
If you want to rent a lounger and umbrella, it will cost between 10 and 25 EUR. There are cafes and bars and freshwater showers on the beach, though not in abundance.
Who it suits
Mogren beach is ideal for peace and unity with nature, recommended for family couples with children, as well as creative individuals - you can draw inspiration from these landscapes.
Becici Beach
Entry is free.
One of the largest and most beautiful beaches in Montenegro, awarded by the Paris Grand Prix. It is well-maintained and clean, focused on the comfort of guests, and a real find for lovers of active sports. Bečići beach is versatile and unique.
Location
The small pebble beach is located in the old resort town of Becici and stretches along the coast for 1950 meters. The town is located 3 km from Budva and has good transportation - you can get from one to the other for only 2 EUR.
From Becici beach to the island of St. Nicholas, there is a tourist boat, then it continues to the shore of the island of St. Stefan, where there is a fashionable hotel of the same name with a very expensive entrance fee to its beach area - 50 EUR.
Characteristics
The central part of the beach is excellent for peace. The sea here is calm, there are practically no waves. The water is warm and clear. The depth increases gradually. Comfortable conditions for family vacation with children.
The western part of the beach will be interesting for those who like active sports. Here you can:
rent water skis and scooters, catamarans;
play beach volleyball, soccer, basketball, tennis;
try paragliding.
Features
When booking hotel rooms, pay attention to the distance to the coastline. Becici is going through a difficult phase of renovation: many boutique hotels, villas, and apartments have been moved beyond the first line, some hotels are even located behind the main street.
The beaches of St. Nicholas Island
Entry to the island is free.
The small island of St. Nicholas is visible from any point of Budva. Its length is only 2 kilometers.
How to get there
To get there, you can either take a tourist water tram or a shuttle boat. The former costs only 3 EUR, and the latter 20-30 EUR.
The streetcar runs every half hour from the pier on Budva's city beach.
What's interesting
Green moss-covered boulders are the guardians of this rocky coastline. The island is famous for its numerous booths, clear water, and pebble beaches. Tourists are advised to wear special shoes because the pebbles are quite coarse.
What to do
There are only a few bars and one restaurant on the island. Prices are twice as high as in Budva. Water is better to take with you as it is very expensive here. Among the island activities: you can climb one of the three cliffs, sunbathe on the beach, and swim in the warm water.
