The first thing to find on the map of Marbella is the historical center of the Old Town - the Orange Square, or Plaza de los Naranjos. The name, by the way, is justified - the square is really planted with orange trees, which in spring fill the whole area with a marvelous fragrance. The main monuments of the city are concentrated on the square: the building of the City Council, the House of the Judge, the Archaeological Museum, the Ermita de Santiago Chapel, and the magnificent Renaissance fountain.
"Shopping" zone on a map of Marbella look for in the labyrinths of the Old Town - on Avenida Ramon and Cajal, Solano Street, Portada and Huerta Chica. The largest concentration of hotels on the map of Marbella - in the Old Town, as well as on the Golden Mile (so called coastal strip from the 5-star hotel Gran Melia Don Pepe to the port of Puerto Banus).
No matter where you stay in Marbella, it is a small town with a well-developed infrastructure. The most popular among tourists is the area in the center of Marbella Old Town (oriented on Plaza de los Naranjos). Choosing a hotel in this area, you will be within walking distance of the main city cathedral Iglesia Mayor de la Encarnacion and the ancient quarter with the remains of the fortress medieval walls. Another area of Marbella, where it is better to live a well-to-do tourist, is the port of Puerto Banus, one of the most picturesque marinas in Spain (10 minutes from Marbella).
There are many luxury restaurants, bars and clubs - Puerto Banus is often called the Spanish St. Tropez. Among other densely built-up areas of the city - prestigious Los Monteros and Rio Real (eastern Marbella), in this part is mostly rented apartments. There are no dangerous neighborhoods in Marbella (except for the fact that your wallet is at risk of significant expenses - the resort is expensive!).
